After a highly successful Fall semester featuring two great shows, Much Ado About Nothing & Deathrap, The Canisius College Little Theatre is proud (and very excited!) to announce our next production: Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s musical Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
Sweeney will be directed by Seniors Joshua Robinson & Tyler Ianuzi, both 4-year members of LT and currently sitting E-Board members; will feature musical direction by William Freeman; and will be produced by Hannah Alt & Christopher Hyzy, the club’s President & Vice President.
The role of Sweeney Todd will be played by Freshman Albert Falcone, previously seen as Claudio in our fall production of Much Ado About Nothing; Mrs. Lovett will be played by Sophomore Erin Mount, who appeared as Beatrice in Much Ado and Margaret Johnson in last year’s The Light In The Piazza; Sophomore Matt Giangrego, who was in both of our shows Fall semester, will play Anthony; Johanna will be played by Junior Miranda Lombardo, who was seen as Clara in The Light In The Piazza and Clea in 2010′s Black Comedy; Sophomore Rebecca Krakowiak, last seen in 2010′s Public Eye, will be playing Tobias Ragg; and Freshman Patrick Zicari, who played Benedick in Much Ado, will play Judge Turpin.
The show will run for one weekend only, March 1st-3rd 2012, in Canisius’ own Marie Maday Theatre, located on campus in Lyons Hall. To reserve tickets, call (716) 888-3795. Tickets will be high demand, so reserve your soon!
